Mark A. Stansberry, chairman of The GTD Group, becomes chairman of the Regional University System of Oklahoma Board of Regents for the fiscal year 2017-18, beginning July 1. Gov. Mary Fallin appointed Stansberry a RUSO regent by in 2015. He succeeds banker Lake Carpenter, a regent since 2013, as chairman.
Stansberry previously served on the RUSO Board of Regents from 2001 to 2010, appointed by Gov. Keating, and served as chairman of the RUSO Board of Regents from 2006 to 2007. Gov. Bellmon appointed Stansberry to the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma Board of Regents from 1988 to 1993. He served as chairman of the USAO Board of Regents from 1990 to 1991.
Stansberry is the chairman of the Oklahoma Hall of Fame— Gaylord-Pickens Museum Board of Directors and a life trustee of Oklahoma Christian University. He is Life Emeritus on the Governor’s International Team, where he served as chairman in 2007. He recently completed his term serving on the Board of Governors of the Texas Chapter of the Grammys/Recording Academy and was inducted into the Western Oklahoma Hall of Fame in 2009. He was chairman of the board of People to People International world-wide operations from 2009 to 2013.
