SWOSU Lady Bulldogs Ranked #2 in Final National Poll

The record-setting season turned in by the SWOSU women's basketball team ended with the Lady Bulldogs ranked second in the final Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) national poll, establishing a new program-best ranking for the program.

SWOSU set a new single-season record for victories, finishing the season 35-2 after dropping a heartbreaking, double overtime contest against Lubbock Christian in the NCAA Division II National Championship game. LCU finishes the season ranked first, followed by SWOSU, Drury and Indiana (Pa.), the other teams who advanced to the Final Four.

The Lady Bulldogs road to a national runner-up finish included victories over three nationally-ranked teams in IUP (#4), Fort Hays State (#5) and Saint Anselm (#14) and Central Missouri, who won the national title in 2018. This is the second straight season for SWOSU to finish ranked in the final poll after the Lady Dawgs concluded the 2017-18 season ranked at #20.

After returning home from the Elite Eight in Columbus, Ohio, an event to Celebrate the Season was held April 1 on the Weatherford campus.
